Plum Underwriting has secured fourth position in the 2012 Insurance Times, Personal Lines Broker Service Survey – up from fifth place in 2011 – scoring highly for Underwriting Expertise and Flexibility and for Ease of Access to Decision-Makers.

This year’s survey drew  responses from 329 personal lines brokers who were each asked to rate insurers with whom they had placed business in the past 12 months by measuring their performance in seven different areas of service. In the overall results Plum continued its strong performance, rising from fifth place last time to take fourth place compared with the same 18 insurers this time.

Of particular note was Plum’s result in the area of Underwriting Expertise and Flexibility which, in terms of relative importance between the service dimensions being measured, rose to become the most important service area for brokers – having been ranked the fourth most important area in 2011. Plum also scored highly for Ease of Access to Decision-Makers which remained the third most important area of service for brokers this time.

Commenting on the results, Plum managing director David Whitaker said: “Naturally, we are delighted that we have improved on our 2011 ranking in what is an increasingly competitive sector of the specialist home insurance market. We are particularly pleased that we have scored so highly in two of the top three service dimensions for brokers.

“Above all, we remain committed to supporting brokers through our Plum Open Market initiative and to delivering the high quality, individual service and support they require to secure and retain profitable business.”
